Manchester City vs Liverpool 12 Jan 2012

Already embarrassed at home, in the derby as well. That's what happened when the deluded Manchester City rivals Manchester United 2-3 in FA Cup round of 32 (8 / 1). Results were also made City failed to retain the title she won last season.
However, the City still has a chance other domestic trophy, which is in the Carling Cup. The Citizens - as the City - is already in motion until the semifinals and will face Liverpool. The first leg played at home to City early morning GMT (12 / 1).
Winner City versus Liverpool unseeded champion since bablas other semi-final slots only brings two Championship (caste below the Premier League), Crystal Palace and Cardiff City.
But City manager Roberto Mancini has asked his team to face Liverpool focus. Especially after the derby defeat, Mancini has a tough task. In addition to the team that evoke mental down, the Italian coach must be very clever to get around the limited stock of players, especially in defense.
City still hoping for a red card sanctions Vincent Kompany during their derby not apply after taking an appeal. If Kompany still absent, the fortress City would be vulnerable because of Kolo Toure had traveled to Abu Dhabi for training camp with the Ivory Coast are preparing to perform at the African Nations Cup.
That means that Mancini had to lose a young defender Stefan Savic as Joleon Lescott tandem. Along Nedum Onuoha and Wayne Bridge frozen status in the squad, Mancini was forced to enter a 17-year defender from the reserve team, Karim Rekik.
People think we have a big squad. In fact, we only have 19 players including three goalkeepers. If we lose three or four players like the situation now, we're in trouble, "said Mancini told the Manchester Evening News.
Mancini hopes the return of midfielder Gareth Barry from suspension could help the defense area. On the other hand, rows of artisan knocking City is also problematic given the David Silva, Mario Balotelli, and Edin Dzeko in injury recovery. Meanwhile, Sergio Aguero threatened exhaustion because it is always played in every game.
Different situations experienced by the visitors. Except for Luis Suarez, Liverpool could lose all the players with the condition that should be more fit. That's because Liverpool have five days or recovery after a 5-1 win over Oldham Athletic in the FA Cup (6 / 1).
Handicap Reds - Liverpool's title - is a poor record at home to City within two years. Liverpool always lose 0-3, including in the event the Premier League last week (4 / 1). But Liverpool striker Craig Bellamy said that if the results would not be repeated again.
There is always a chance to beat them (City) in their own home. We will look different and will also take advantage of their last situation (losing the derby, Red), "said Bellamy, who defended the City for two years before joining Liverpool mid 2011's

President Barack Obama Decided To Close The Guantanamo

Guantanamo
The White House said that President Barack Obama decided to close the Guanatanamo Bay, although it failed to achieve this because of the war on the 10th anniversary celebration of the prison this week.
Obama announced this plan a few hours after being elected president in January 2009. He wants to close the prison within a year, and argues that the prison was used as a tool to recruit terrorists and bullies other U.S. national security.
But the plan was strongly opposed by the Congress to move the detainees to the U.S. mainland and the idea to hold the trial key Al-Qaeda suspects, Obama failed to fulfill these promises.
The president's commitment to close Guantanamo Bay still remained firm since his campaign in the year 2008 until now, "said White House spokesman, Jay Carney.Kami know there are many hurdles that impede the realization of this quickly as desired, but the president ... the president's commitment is not changed at all. "
Carney said that Obama, a high level national security officials and senior members of the military still believes that closing Guantanamo is a U.S. agenda.
We want to continue to refer to these commitments and trying to make it happen, "he said.
Opposition that still exists to close the prison camps in southeast Cuba, and political pressure during election times, apparently not an obstacle to closing Guantanamo in the near future.
Some of the mastermind behind the attacks of 11 September 2001 was a few people among the 171 prisoners still detained in prison awaiting trial and the military over there.

Ever Since The Syrian Unrest Began 10 Months Ago 2012

Ever since the Syrian unrest began 10 months ago, it has been difficult for the rest of the world to verify reports from inside the country.
The government has been placing restrictions on international journalists and refusing many of them entry at all.
But just recently, short-term visas were issued to a number of journalists so they could follow the dozens of Arab League monitors already in the country. The journalists' presence was demanded by the Arab League as part of its agreement with Syria, according to Nic Robertson, CNN's senior international correspondent.
Robertson and a CNN crew are among those in Syria right now. Their equipment was confiscated on arrival so that no live video could be transmitted, but Robertson spoke via phone on Monday to share what he has seen.
Reports say that since March, thousands of people have been killed by Syrian security forces despite ongoing international pressure to stop the crackdown. Death toll estimates range from 5,000 to 6,000.
Nic, just describe to us what you've been seeing and what you've observed so far.
Nic Robertson: We were able to go with some monitors (Monday) as they went to witness and record the funeral of a young man who the crowd there, just on the outskirts of Damascus, said was shot and killed by forces loyal to the government.
Protests, tensions rise in Syria
We were able to see a body of a man who appeared to be 32 years old. We had been told that he had been killed while walking down the street. And the monitors took information from the family of this man.
Arab League to discuss Syria
The crowd there, perhaps 1,000 to 2,000 people, gathered and chanted for an overthrow and an end to the regime of Bashar al-Assad. They said that if the Arab League monitors weren't there, that they wouldn't be out on the street, that they would be too afraid to demonstrate in this way.
And then as the Arab League monitors drove off to another area, within half a mile -- less than a kilometer away -- a small pro-government rally had formed in the road, blocking their way. And people were chanting in support of Bashar al-Assad.
How much access is the Syrian government giving you and our CNN crew in Damascus? Are you able to talk to anyone you want to, go anywhere you want? Or are your movements controlled?
Robertson: At the moment, the government has told us that we are free to go and follow the monitors. There are areas of the country that they say are too dangerous for us to go and that they're trying to organize a secure way for us to get there: for example, to Homs, where we know there have
been ongoing demonstrations and the Free Syrian Army say they at least control one neighborhood. ...
But it's too soon to say what the restrictions are that will be placed upon us. Certainly today, we had no problems following monitors into what was a virulently anti-government rally: people showing us shotgun marks, injuries that they say they had sustained at the hands of forces loyal to the government here. So we've had no
problems so far in reaching those types of places and, likewise, meeting with people who are loyal to the government and interviewing government officials. We've met no limitations, but these are early days, and the situation could change.
What's so extraordinary about these protests?
Robertson: At the anti-government protest of a couple of thousand people ... passions were very high. People were very angry; people were very afraid. ... Yet at the same time, in central Damascus today, we've seen large pro-government rallies telling us that they love President Bashar al-Assad.
What is happening here is, this country is divided. It's polarizing. People are believing opposite things: Some believe that the president is the right man for the country. There are others who don't. They're not talking to each other. And this is leading to a much more divided country than a few months ago.
CNN: So what do you see as the future for al-Assad at this point?
Robertson: This is a leader at the moment who appears to be able to weather this storm. He has the loyalty of a significant part of his army. They're able to put down at the moment and prevent any growth of the revolt against him.
Then there is obviously the opposition who is living, they say, in fear of the government. So actually, what we can see is the divisions are going to get deeper.
The Arab monitors who are here ... are largely seen as ineffective. The language that they use, they do not criticize the government here even though the government hasn't met what the Arab League is telling it to do in terms of pulling weapons and troops off the street.
The divisions are getting bigger, and I think we can expect the situation here -- at the moment, stable -- to deteriorate in the future. That's the direction it's going in.

Syrian Arab League To Discuss Riots

Foreign ministers from the Arab League are meeting in Cairo to assess the progress of their mission in Syria and to discuss whether to ask for UN help.
An observer mission sent by the League to assess a peace plan has been criticised as toothless, as bloodshed continues despite its presence.
Activists reported more than 20 new deaths in Syria on Sunday, including 11 soldiers in Deraa province.
Other clashes between soldiers and army deserters were said to be under way.
About 100 people are said to have been killed in three days alone - although the reports are difficult to verify with most foreign media barred from working in Syria
According to the Syrian opposition Local Co-ordination Committees (LCC), at least 27 people died around the country on Saturday - eight in Homs, 13 in Idlib, five in the suburbs of Damascus and one in Hama
Local opposition groups said 35 people had been killed in anti-government protests after Friday prayers
At least 26 people died in a bomb attack in Damascus on Friday, some of them members of the security forces, state media say

The UN says more than 5,000 civilians have been killed since protests against President Bashar al-Assad began 10 months ago.
The Arab League mission has been heavily criticised by the Syrian opposition for failing to stop, or even clearly condemn, the ongoing violence, the BBC's Jon Leyne reports from Cairo.
But senior officials from the League have already said that there is no question of the mission being withdrawn and, instead, there is talk of strengthening it, our correspondent says.
Machine-gun exchanges'
The Arab League observers have been in Syria since late December to monitor compliance with a peace plan under which the government promised to withdraw the military from the streets and cease its use of force against civilians.
The ministers meeting in Cairo are expected to examine a proposal by Qatar for UN human rights experts to be invited to assist their work, in order to judge whether the Syrian authorities are honouring their pledge.
They will also look at how the observers can operate more independently of Syrian authorities. Currently they are required to be escorted by members of the Syrian security officials.
Critics say Mr Assad is using the monitors' presence as a political cover and that attacks continue.
According to the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, 11 soldiers were killed and at least 20 injured in fighting with deserters in Deraa.
A further nine defected to the deserters' side, it added, in a report which could not be independently verified.
Heavy machine-gun exchanges between troops and deserters were also reported in the Deraa town of Dael, with no immediate reports of casualties.
Reporting other incidents, activists of the Local Co-ordination Committees said 10 people had been killed on Sunday, including a child.
They said eight died in Homs, and one each in Deir Ezzor, in the north-east, and the Damascus suburb of Douma.
In another development, a Russian naval flotilla aircraft led by an aircraft carrier docked in the Syrian port of Tartus.
The carrier group is due to spend six days in Tartus, where Russia has a naval base dating back to Soviet times. Syrian Arab League to discuss riots

Col Cyrus Oguna : a Kenyan Military Spokesman, Says Officials Received Intelligence That A Somali Militant Group Was Planning An Attack Over Christmas and New Year.

News Salam World: Kenyan authorities said Saturday that they had thwarted attempted attacks by an al-Qaida-linked Somali militant group over Christmas and the New Year, as Britain warned its citizens over looming terror threats in Kenya.
Col. Cyrus Oguna, a Kenyan military spokesman, said officials received intelligence from credible sources that the Somali militant group al-Shabab was planning an attack over Christmas and New Year. He said Kenyan troops in Somalia made pre-emptive strikes on different
targets in Somalia based on that information.
We carried out pre-emptive strikes and disruptive strikes in Somalia and police secured things here at home and as a result of that we were able to have peaceful Christmas and New Year festivities," he said.
Britain's Foreign Office urged Britons in Kenya to be extra vigilant, warning that terrorists there may be "in the final stages of planning attacks."
Oguna said Kenyan police on Dec. 31 killed three suspected al-Shabab militants caught trying to sneak into the country to disrupt New Year celebrations. Three suspects were arrested. He said the six men were seen by Kenya's navy in Kenyan territory in two skiffs on the Dec 30.
They abandoned the skiffs and hid among mangrove trees, Oguna said, but locals alerted police of their presence.
Police spokesman Eric Kiraithe said the men were armed with six AK-47 rifles and more than 500 bullets.
Kenyan troops entered Somalia in mid-October to attack the militants, and have been supported by the country's weak army.
Oguna said that they will continue to put pressure on al-Shabab and that at least 60 militants were killed in airstrikes on Garbaharey town, an al-Shabab base, on Friday.
Kenya blames al-Shabab for a string of kidnappings on Kenyan soil, including those of four Europeans. The kidnappings threatened Kenya's tourism industry, a key source of revenue for the country. Al-Shabab, Somalia's most dangerous militant group, is waging an insurgency against Somalia's weak, U.N.-backed government.
Ethiopian troops recently entered Somalia on the country's west, and they along with African Union troops in Mogadishu are squeezing al-Shabab fighters on three sides.
The group has said it will carry out suicide bombings in Kenya's capital, Nairobi, in retaliation for Kenya's military incursion. Al-Shabab claimed responsibility for the July 2010 suicide attacks in Kampala, Uganda which killed 76 people watching the World Cup final.
Britain's Foreign Office ministry said in a travel advisory issued Saturday that attacks could be indiscriminate and could target places where expatriates and foreign travelers gather, including hotels, shopping centers and beaches.
Meanwhile, Kenyan police say they want to apprehend British national Natalie Faye Webb, who is believed to have links to al-Shabab. A Kenyan court issued a warrant of her arrest on Wednesday. Kiraithe did not give details on why she is wanted by the police.
The court also issued an arrest warrant for Kenyan national Habib Saleh Gani.

Boko Haram / Nigeria 2012

Nigeria's president has declared a partial state of emergency to contain a wave of attacks by an Islamic militant group across the country's northeast.
The group, known as "Boko Haram," has been blamed for two months of widespread bloodshed in Nigeria, with churches and police stations among the targets. The group claimed responsibility for a series of attacks on churches on Christmas Day.
Who are Boko Haram, and what are they fighting for?
Boko Haram means "Western education is a sin." Depending on the faction, the group's ambitions range from the stricter enforcement of Sharia law -- which is derived from the Koran as the "world of God" -- across the predominantly Muslim north of Nigeria, to the total destruction of the Nigerian state and its government.
Christians warned to leave Nigeria

Who do they target?

Boko Haram's grievances remain local, but it has proven itself capable and willing to attack international institutions --- such as the United Nations - on Nigerian soil to achieve their aims.
The August 26 attack -- during which a Boko Haram suicide bomber drove a jeep laden with explosives into the U.N. headquarters in Abuja -- was one of the deadliest in U.N. history. Twenty-four people were killed, including 12 U.N. staff.

When did Boko Haram arise?
Armed groups are all too common in Nigeria, often paid by politicians to support their bids for power, and Boko Haram at first was no different. However, the group exploded onto the national scene in 2009 when 700 people were killed in widespread clashes across the north between the group and the military. The uprising was put down, but violence has resurged since national elections in April, with hundreds of people killed in almost weekly bomb attacks, assassinations and killings in the main northeast city of Maiduguri.
The elections are widely regarded by many in the north to have been rigged against the popular northern candidate.
Do they have links to terrorists?
The Nigerian "Underwear Bomber" Umar AbdulMutallab had no connection with Boko Haram -- but his attempt to detonate an explosive aboard a U.S. flight in 2009 highlights the vulnerability of the West to insecurity in Nigeria.
There is concern that Boko Haram has made contact with other extremist Islamic groups such as al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb in northern Africa. Increasing sophistication in the execution of Boko Haram's attacks, security experts say, indicate such external instruction.
As the group moves further away from its political roots toward an increasing religious dimension, any attempt at dialogue with the group becomes more difficult for the authorities.

What has been the government response?
President Goodluck Jonathan has deployed the military across the region in a bid to contain the crisis, stating after each attack that the government has the situation under control. But with little obvious success in improving the security situation, events seem to be increasingly out of the government's control.
Does the group enjoy support among the people?
Although the northern populace mostly abhors the violence, there is considerable local sympathy and support for stricter Sharia law, seen by many as the only way to put an end to what is widely regarded as a corrupt and inept government.
Northern Nigeria has some of the worst human development indicators in the world despite the country's being the fifth largest oil exporter to the United States. Hundreds of billions of dollars have been stolen by a succession of corrupt governments.
As the attacks continue and the violence spreads from its base in the northeast, Boko Haram is winning perhaps its most important battle: making Nigerians question what most agree is the cause of the problem, their government.

Everton 2 vs 0 Tamworth 2012

Tamworth's FA Cup run came to an end in the third round at Goodison Park as Everton ground out a win against the Blue Square Premier League side.
The Lambs were looking to become the first non-league team to beat top-flight opponents since Sutton knocked out Coventry in 1989 but they made a disappointing start when Johnny Heitinga headed
in Landon Donovan's corner inside five minutes.
Tamworth gave as good as they got after that, particularly in the latter stages of the first half, but they could not find an equaliser and Everton substitute Leighton Baines wrapped up victory
from the penalty spot 11 minutes from time.
Everton boss David Moyes, with his options limited by injuries, named a reasonably strong side and handed a first start to James McFadden since his return to the club, while Toffees fan Joe Collister
made only his second appearance in goal for Tamworth.
Before the match, former Everton defender Gary Ablett, an FA Cup winner with the Toffees in 1995, was remembered with a minute's applause.
The 46-year-old died of cancer on New Year's Day and members of his family and former team-mates joined the two teams on the pitch.
Ninety-four places separate the sides across five divisions but Tamworth are no stranger to the third round having also reached this stage in 2006 and 2007
while Everton have lost to Shrewsbury and Oldham during Moyes' reign.
What the underdogs needed was a good start but they found themselves behind inside five minutes.
It was not a good moment for 20-year-old Collister, who missed Landon Donovan's corner and defender Heitinga headed in via a deflection off Tamworth captain Duane Courtney.
The Premier League side were well on top early on and Collister did well to block a shot on the turn from Victor Anichebe before Diniyar Bilyaletdinov blazed over the bar from 15 yards.
McFadden also had two decent early chances to net his first goal since August 2010, first heading wide and then guiding a shot just past the post after a neat backheel from Bilyaletdinov.
Everton's dominance soon passed, and the visitors, roared on by an estimated 5,000 fans, became an increasing presence in the game.
They almost had a special goal to cheer in the 29th minute when striker Kyle Patterson set off on a run from the half-way line to the edge of the area but placed his shot just past the far post.
Patterson, a former team-mate of Donovan and David Beckham at the Los Angeles Galaxy, then shot straight at Howard as the home fans began to get a little frustrated.
What Moyes definitely did not need was more injuries, but he was forced into a change 12 minutes into the second half when Seamus Coleman limped off after seeing Collister tip over a cross-shot.
Baines came on, and at the same time Marouane Fellaini was also receiving treatment after a crunching tackle from Patrick Kanyuka, but he was able to carry on.
There had been a distinct lack of quality in the second half in particular but Everton finally put together a decent move in the 77th minute as Donovan and Baines combined to set up Bilyaletdinov for
a shot that was beaten away by Collister.
And moments later the Toffees were given the chance to double their lead from the penalty spot.
Substitute Royston Drenthe did not need much help going down under pressure from Sam Habergham but referee Robert Madley was unmoved by the Tamworth protests and Baines sent Collister the wrong way.
Donovan then went within inches of making it 3-0 with a superb right-footed shot from 25 yards that beat Collister but crashed off the angle of post and bar.

Liverpool And Merseysidel And Merseyside Police Are Investigating An Incident Of Alleged Abuse From Tans Towards Oldham Athletic Defender Tom Adeyemi

The 20-year-old was visibly upset late in his side's 5-1 FA Cup third round defeat at Anfield on Friday.
The game was stopped briefly while Adeyemi alerted referee Neil Swarbrick to the incident.
However, Merseyside Police confirmed that no arrests were made for "racially aggravated behaviour".
On Saturday evening, Liverpool issued a further statement, saying: "Liverpool Football Club continue to work closely with Merseyside Police to establish all the facts surrounding the
incident that occurred during last night's game.
We take this matter extremely seriously and have today provided the police with the evidence we currently have available to us.
This includes CCTV coverage and still photography of what we believe to be the relevant part of the stadium, statements from match-day stewards in that area and full access to all the
footage captured by the cameras filming the match for our in-house TV operation.
In addition, we have examined records of the tickets purchased in that part of the ground to see if they provide any additional information and have passed that on to the police.
Finally, we would also urge any of our supporters who witnessed this incident or saw the individual involved and who have not already done so, to contact either the club or the police.
Oldham captain Dean Furman urged authorities to take "heavy action" against fans found to be abusive.
He was abused and I'll leave it to Tom and the police to investigate that," said Furman. "What happened should not happen in the game.
It has been highlighted over the last few months and it is an absolute disgrace."
Oldham manager Paul Dickov revealed he had not spoken to Adeyemi, who is on loan from Norwich, about the incident after the match, but accepted something had upset him.
From my point of view I have not spoken to Tom about it but I know the kid and something has been said," said Dickov.
He is a placid boy, a kid who has been well educated with a fantastic temperament and has been with us since the end of August and I've never seen him raise his voice.
For him to react like that it is obvious something has been said but what has been said I don't know because I've not had a chance to ask - I was too busy praising my players.
He is fine now. He has calmed down. He is a laid-back kid who just gets on with business.
Our players went and calmed him down and the Liverpool players did as well, which was fantastic and is why they are top professionals."
The incident involving Adeyemi compounds a difficult few weeks for Liverpool, who were without Luis Suarez for the match against the Latics as the striker serves an eight-match ban for
racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra at Anfield in October.

Argentine President Cristina Fernandez De Kirchner Did Not Have Cancer After All, The Presidential Spokesman Has Said

Ms Fernandez underwent an operation last Wednesday aimed at treating suspected thyroid cancer.
Supporters gathered in vigil at the hospital amid huge public interest.
But post-operative tests had definitively ruled out the presence of cancerous cells in removed nodules, spokesman Alfredo Scoccimarro said.
The news was greeted with cheers of astonishment and relief when it was announced to supporters outside the Austral University Hospital in Pilar,
some 60km (40 miles) from the Argentine capital Buenos Aires.
With the new diagnosis, Ms Fernandez's medical team "considers that the surgical treatment undertaken is sufficient and the administration of
radioactive iodine is no longer necessary", Mr Scoccimarro said.
Popular leader
He said the president was thankful for the affection and concern for her health she had received.
She has been released from hospital and is convalescing at her official residence, he added.
Ms Fernandez, 58, won re-election with a landslide 54% of the vote in October, and is popular among Argentines who agree with her generous welfare programmes.
She had been believed to be suffering a papillary thyroid carcinoma, but doctors say it can be difficult to test definitively for the presence of the cancer
without removing the thyroid gland in its entirety.
She was one of several Latin American leaders diagnosed with cancer in recent times.
President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela, Paraguayan leader Fernando Lugo, and former Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva have all been operated on in the past year.
